Set in the heart of the Parco del Conero, Numana is a delightful seaside town with a dual soul: that of the old town's picturesque alleyways, overlooking the splendid Blue Flag sea, and that of the lively coastline, full of bathing establishments, bars, clubs and services of all kinds.
The latter, Numana Bassa, is home to the main concentration of campsites and villages, seamlessly distributed between the small port, with its cliffy coastline and small beaches hidden among picturesque coves, and the town of Marcelli, with its long sandy shore made up of pebble beaches that are easier to access.
A must for sun, sea and sunbathing lovers are the most beautiful beaches, such as the Spiaggia del Frate, nestled between the white rock and the green flora of the Conero, and the Spiaggiola.
The seafaring origin of the city is quite evident in the picturesque streets of the old town of Numana Alta, a maze of narrow alleys overlooking the sea. The belvedere opening from the Tower, an evocative arch of uncertain origins, is a must-see as well as the descent along the Costarella, an ancient stepped road that fishermen used to walk every morning at dawn towards the port, which in summer becomes a natural stage for painting exhibitions and artistic events in general.
